About Me - Vicky Feeney
Midwifery has become more than a job, it has become a passion and a huge part of my life. As an independent midwife, I have the opportunity to really work alongside women and I feel privileged to be a part of such a huge life-changing event.
To enhance my role, I have taken on additional training in specific areas of midwifery, i.e. waterbirth and I have also taken extra training in teaching/adult learning which is useful when tackling areas such as parent education. I am also currently studying a Higher Diploma in Complimentary Therapies (HDComp) which includes Homeopathy, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Acupressure and Hypnotherapy, which are essential aspects in my work as an independent practitioner.
Although I support the ethos of the NHS, I believe that true one-to-one, family-centred care can only be provided through independent midwifery. My aim is to promote autonomy through informed choice and encourage a smooth transition from pregnancy to parenthood.
I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as well as a member of the Independent Midwives Association, Association of Radical Midwives, Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services and the Royal College of Midwives. I also subscribe to several midwifery journals to stay up to date with the latest research in midwifery.
